I have a winfast tv200 deluxe by leadtek, capture card.
I must be a major asshole but I cant seem to get tv viewing to work.
I wondering if it has to do with the fact thst I have DirectTv?
When I scan for channels, I get static. I have tried multiple wire arrangments.
How should I run the cable?. Plug it into directtv box or just use the coax that runs out to tv?
Please any help would help. Really want to test the capture quality.

i think you aren't getting replies because most of the others are rolling their eyes...

direct tv has no channel lineup that you can tune to with the tuner on the card. at most, if you have a coax connection to the back of your directv (which usually goes to your tv), you will get only one channel to tune to, channel 3 (like a vcr). but, most people don't use this connection with a card like yours. instead they use the svideo input because it is a higher quality connection. you want to go this rout because you will have to use the directtv box to change your channels anyway. since an svideo cable only sends video, you will have to connect the sound separately through a stereo or spdf input, depending on what you have available on your computer/directbox. isn't there a manual with the card? if your directv box doesn't have an svideo out, or at least a composit out (rca, usually yellow) you can use to connect the video across, then you are stuck trying to tune to channel 3.

anyway, decide what you need to do, make sure you have the cables ready, see if you can get an image. if you still cant, try it with a vcr until you can see an image when you play a tape. still no luck then you have to find someone to give you hands on help, hopefully a friend. really, the card you have is just like the back end of a vcr, so whatever you have to do to connect a vcr should be enough to get an image on your computer.
