Hi,

I'm experimenting with conversions from PAL DV to XViD and MPEG2.
I want to keep the movie interlaced and convert them full frame. But since (XViD) avi's are framebased i can't play them properly on my pc(matrox g450) -> tv-out -> tv. This works perfectly with dvd compliant MPEG2 (which is fieldbased) and Powerdvd in force weave mode. But the xvid avi's and the dv avi's can't playback properly. The avi's on tv show interlaced lines.
Now i'm looking for a player that can playback the avi's properly, maybe by offering the tv some sort of forced fieldbased output or something. Or some sort of directshow filter that make powerdvd thread avi's as MPEG2?

Please help me out!

:confused:
If your AVIs are progressive, they should play well on a TV set, and on a PC monitor, too.

What's up?

Maybe you have such a weird thing like interlaced source encoded as progressive frames. You could try to play your file through AviSynth, with a script like this:
AviSource("...")
SeparateFields().Trim(1,0).Weave()
or
AviSource("...")
DoubleWeave().SelectOdd()
