is gknot or divx optimized for hyperthreading? i just got new 2.4c w800 mhz fsb + ht w new asus p4p800 w springdale chipset hoping i can encode faster. i plan to overclock at or above 3ghz. i havnt put it together yet so i am curious at the diff it'll make

:D  :D

nope afaik neither of those two programs is... sorry
you'll gain some speed anyway though (at least that's what i've heard) (:

Actually I think DivX 5.0x is hyperthreading aware, i.e. will spread processing evenly over both parts. And most of the gain will come from AviSynth being run on one part of the processor while the encoding (XviD or DivX) mostly happens on the other part.

yeah, i noticed both processor lines at 92% enen w vdub set to highest priority, and i can still do anything i want like watch dvds, divx, dscaler, etc... w/o noticing encoding goin on. and, i'm encoding 25%faster and i havent even oced yetand i'm only running single channel ram for now. all this is very cool and exactly what i wanted. this is upgrated from p4 1.6a @ 2.4ghz at 600mhz fsb. all i have to say is WOW.
