HEY GUYS...

Just got hold of a new TDK 440n dvd dual format writer,the drive is great,its only a NEC 1300 drive rebadged in TDK clothing but it looks nice in black i must admit.the problem i have is that my old pioneer 303 scsi dvd-rom is only a 6x drive and is not fast enough to supply the TDK when writing at 4x.a new dvd rom is needed and im not sure what to go for,ive heard the new asus drive is the quickest as it is ATA100 not ATA33 like all other drives available at the moment.im also hearing good things abput the toshiba SD1710 DVD ROM so im a bit confused what to go for.does anyone know what to go for in this department??....HELP PLEASE. :confused:

CHEERS...:confused:

I saw a black-faced Liteon 16x in WalMart for 48USD. Is this one any good?

Hi!
It is a very bad idea in my opinion to make an "on-the-fly" copy from a DVD...
The amounts of data which are transferred are just too big (wouldn't do it with CD-rs also...).
Why don't you copy the DVD to your HD first (for example using DVDDecrypter) and burn it then off the HD?
It may take a little longer, but it is much safer...

@minimike: Sorry, no clue...

LiteOn drivers are supposed to be pretty good. if you rather want a brand product i'd go for Toshiba.
anyway as ultimatebilly said it is really not a good idea to do on the fly copies of DVDs...i'd rather take the time and copy them to my hard drive (iso mode, DVDdecrypter) and burn them again. much saver in my opinion.
