View Full Version : Audio is rather large!

I've followed the DivX5 guide to the letter. I'm trying to encode my movies to fit on one 700mb cd. Everything works alright, except the audio is usually about 300-400mb, leaving only 400-300mb for the video. I assume this is because when it comes to the audio track part, it's set to 'size' and not 'bitrate'. When I try to set it as 'bitrate' the end result is a smaller size but the audio is out of synch. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hello, and welcome to Doom9's forum!

You may be attempting to follow a guide to the letter, but it seems from your description that there is some sort of process problem. Please post your log file here (copy and paste), it should be named <movie>_gknot.log. Sometimes, we can tell what the problem (or misstep) is by looking at that log.

Thanks!

I think I discovered the problem. I was attempting to set the output bitrate where GK was asking for the input bitrate (or filesize). Thus, I was telling it that it was going to be using a 224kbit input stream when in fact it was a normal .wav file.

So now I leave that set at size, and set my bitrate later during the encoding dialog. Don't know *what* I was thinkin' :)

I still don't see a problem, coz GK is supposed to recalculate the final bitrate on the fly regardless audio settings you used at bitrate tab...

I don't know either, except that leaving the bitrate set to size on the bitrate tab works, changing it does not. Atleast this is the way it goes for me :)
