hi i have a xvid movie that is to dark how do i re encode so the file size is the same but use the contrast brightnes filters

If you want to reencode it you can use the virtualdub or the AviSynth level command to increase the brightness. However, the filesize will not be the same (most likely) and this will lower the quality of the movie.
Instead of that ... I would suggest you change the directshow filter that you are using for playback. You can change the setting there, to play it brighter then it is, and you won't have to reencode.

Don't encode another time! Just use ffdshow to decode and adjust brightness in there. That works great.
You can also use a media player, such as Zoomplayer, which has overlay controls and change the brightness and contrast with that.
