there are a couple files i have that are divx503 which i want to encode to a divx502 format. any way to do this in virtualdub?

can i install a new version of divx but keep the divx502 encoder as well somehow? is there some general purpose decoder i can install for virtual dub?

-i don't want to encode to a divx505 yet.

Well, it's possible to reencode, no doubt about that (ffdshow/AviSynth/VD), but why? It's time consuming, will degrade quality, and both formats are playable on any computer with ffdshow installed. The only thing I can seethat prompts this request is that you've had some problems with the 5.03, but reencoding the video into 5.02 won't help, since there is no way of recovering the erroneous data from the 5.03 file.
And no, you can't have both v5.03 and 5.02 installed at the same time.
