Playing XviD movies without AVI header

Hi,

I want to play an XviD movie, which hasn't got AVI header. I tried to play it with a lot of media player, but none of them recognized the movie. :confused:

I used the latest XviD codec then i tried ffdshow, but it didn't help me.

I tried to convert this file into .mp4 format with the xvid2mp4 converter, but it crashed with an error.

Can i put an AVI header into this file? Or how can i play it without any modification?

Do you really mean the header (at the beginning) or the index part (at the end)?

Can't imagine that you can reconstruct the header, but if you want to reconstruct the index you can load the file into virtualdub, rebuild the index and save it.

AviPreview Console (http://www.funkster.org/) is pretty good at extracting valid data from damaged avi's... even with a missing header. The only problem is that it's not as good with audio, but YMMV.
