Dear all,

I've successfully encoded a vcd using DVD2SVCD by loading the vcd template and selecting PCB Use Selections on the CD Image tab and leaving all the other settings as is. Everything worked fine except the chapters don't work at all. I chose the chapter on the number pad and nothing happens, while, if I chose next chapter on the remote it ends the vcd because there is only one chapter. The only way to get to the next chapter etc. is to use the fastforward button which is really slow and annoying.

Also, with vcds (karaoke vcds) that I've purchase you can switch between the LEFT and RIGHT channels to get either the music with vocal or just the music - can I do this in DVD2SVCD? I can get two audio channels in SVCD but how can I achieve this LEFT / RIGHT channel in VCD. Please help...thanks in anticipation...

Try VCD Easy to make your bin/cue files. It will allow you to add intro and next disc pics, as well as create menus if you choose. It has several chapter options also. Load your muxed .mpg and go to work. I use this rather than have D2S create bin/cue files for me b/c I use menus on almost all of my discs.

You might also try playing with the chapter settings in D2S, use "Use Playlist" instead of selections.

What imaging prog are using? I-author, VCDXBuild, VCDImager.

@onisama thanks for your quick response...I just use VCDXBuild which comes with D2S. I've been avoiding VCD Easy since I don't care too much about menus and pics etc. However, if it can produce the chapters that I need than I guess I'll start using it. For your information, I've also tried playing with the chapter settings in D2S even trying to set fixed chapters at 60 sec etc. to no avail. Thanks once again...

Can anyone answer my second question...

I don't think you can split the left and right channels like that, but it could be possible. Besweet might be able to do it, DSPGuru would be the guy to ask. You might post a thread (about splitting channels) in the audio forum.

As for the chapter problem, maybe your player doesn't support vcd chapters? I'm not sure if all players do or not... anyone know?

Well, I would think the first thing to do is verify your particular stand-alone supports PBC [or that you have it turned on]. Without PBC, it would behave exactly as you said it did. WHat you could do is see the Q&A. I think there is a link to some test disks there.

Are you using APEX DVD player? If yes, then you should first PRESS the play to start the DISC before using Kep Pad or Next/prev keys. This is an issue with my APEX 1500.

@Amit...thanks for you response...I've tried on both my dvd players (Pioneer and Toshiba), it doesn't even work with PowerDVD. However, I will try again using VCDEasy as was suggested onisama.
