hi there (:
in the last 5 days or so i have tried to encode xXx (Full Screen, R1 RCE), but there have been really strange problems with divX 5.05 and this movie.
i did the usual thing:
used r4r to do the d2v project and the audio
first did resizing manually, then with gknot(.28.2) - no difference
i encode using vdubmod 1.5.1.1a
the final movie - muxed with audio or not doesn't matter - just plays for two seconds, then the video freezes and the audio plays on alone.
i've encoded the movie 3 times and everytime it freezes at the same frame. it does not matter what avs script i use, nor does it matter if i use gknot or not. btw the vobs and the avs script play of course perfectly.
so somehow i got the idea to do a test encode of the first 1500 frames using divx and xvid. both were done in 2 passes, xvid with 2nd pass Int., divx with first pass, nth pass. i didn't pay much attention to the bitrate as i've tried several different bitrates with divx ending up with the same results every time.
so anyway, guess what, the divx clip froze at the same frame again, but the Xvid clip played perfectly fine...
now i consider this strange (:
here's my script: (generated by gknot .28.2)
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\mpeg2dec3.dll")
mpeg2source("C:\XXX_VTS_02_PGC1\XXX_ForceFilm.d2v")
trim(0,1500)
crop(0,2,718,476)
LanczosResize(544,400)
mergechroma(blur(1.3))
I of course will encode to Xvid now to see how the whole movie looks like.
oops some more facts: xvid was the 03052003 build
i had enabled bframes in both xvid and divx
and when i loaded the encoded movie into vdubmod i could seek through the whole movie file without problems - what was somehow remarkable though was that
a) preview playback in vdubmod was awefully slow around 15fps
b) it didn't find any errors when i used the 'search for errors' function
c) divfix couldn't open the file at all...
I let r4r perform force film with d2v, so i ended up with a progressive 23.97 fps video file loaded into avisynth... would it make any difference if i did it manually in avisynth?
any comments, ideas, solutions, remarks about stupid mistakes i made are of course highly appreciated !! :D
i have to admit i'm not that experienced in encoding NTSC material so it might just be something very very obvious and stupid!
thanks in advance
