View Full Version : VDM going crazy on DTS

Demuxed DTS:
Source: H:\Avalon\Avalon.dts
Desc: DTS 5ch 44100Hz -2.4kbps
Length: 00:00:00:136

Non-Demuxed DTS:
Source: H:\Avalon\Avalon2.dts
Desc: DTS 5ch 44100Hz -0.2kbps
Length: 00:00:00:152

The files were ripped with vStrip. AVIMux can rip them, but will cause horrible desynchronization. VDubMod simply doesn't mux the audio in AVI mode, and will mux in OGM mode, but at playback the video will be paused, with only seeking possible. My version is 1.5.1.1a.

IIRC last time I tried vStrip wouldn't demux correctly the DTS track. Try VobRator (it seems to work better than vStrip for demuxing DTS).

LOL

VobRator output:

Source: H:\Avalon\Avalon3.dts
Desc: DTS 5ch 44100Hz -0.3kbps
Length: 00:00:00:041

Smartripper rips DTS tracks just fine.

Desc: DTS 5ch 44100Hz 693.2kbps
Length: 01:43:20:756

Playback in OGM looks ok as well (although I can't hear the dts track, because I don't have the filter installed).
Also, nothing seems to be wrong with muxing dts into AVI, and playback looks alright as well.

So I think your problems were all caused by incorrect ripping of the DTS track.

Ok, I pressed the wrong button. Save instead of Demux (VobRator). Still, I'm getting bad synch, just like I was with AVIMux.

That's an old thread but there indeed was a problem in VirtualDubMod. The DTS parser was broken (resulting in the program reading wrong values for the samplerate or bitrate of the file).

The version here (http://cyrius.bunkus.org/VDubMod_Release.zip) should fix the problem now.
