Attention please.
In Portugal this media is beeing sold telling people, like me, that "tx" is the logo of Traxdata, so... it's Traxdata.
At home (too late!) you can see that it is media made by... VIVASTAR and my Sony DRU-500A doesn't "like" it.
Don't be a fool like me!

tx _is_ indeed the Traxdata logo (http://www.txeurope.com). They just happen to label all sorts of brands, including both Ritek and Vivastar.
Just as Imation, Intenso, Platinum, Traxdata is not a manufacturer of discs.

smiller667,

I must disagree with you.
See link (http://www.traxdata.com/about_Traxdata/press_releases/tx_traxdata.htm) .

I agree with Bairradino,
This Tx dvds-r sold in Portugal are not Traxdata/Riteks. They are indeed Vivastar. They should only sell Riteks!
And in the box they claim to burn at 2x and it doesn´t happen in my A04 anyway.
Bairradino, não te esqueças de registar novamente no nosso forum PT.
However Tx doesn´t manufacter dvds indeed. Bairradino as a point in here, this TX are not Traxdata. They are other mark, maybe they are a clone.:p
Seeya.

Umm ... yeah, you're definitely right there. Thanks for clarifying this. I thought the "tx" label was the new name for Traxdata (which, I heard rumours once, had serious financial problems).

The "old" Trasxdata used to sell rebadged burners as well - which they don't do anymore, apparently. Instead "Traxdata" burners now have the tx logo - guess that was just too confusing for me :).

Also, I just noticed they use the name "ThinkExtra" now for tx ... and just to make it all the more confusing, read this from www.txeurope.com:The TX Group is made of the following companies:

* Aventi Distribution (United Kingdom)
* CDV tic (Morocco)
* E&K Data (Germany, DACH region)
* Optical Storage (Nordic)
* Traxdata France (France)
* Traxdata Iberica (Spain and Portugal)
* Traxdata Italy (Italy)
* TX-Benelux (Benelux)
* TX-China (China)
So essentially Traxdata of Portugal & Spain is now part of TX. Can't believe it - how much more complicated can it get?

That´s right, the name Traxdata used by Tx are a commercial strike to us all! Shame on them.:angry:

I bought some TX 90minute CDRs a while back, and I must admit I did wonder if they had anything to do with TraxData.

In terms of DVD-R, I've never bought TX branded, but all the TraxData DVD-Rs I've had have been absolutely marvellous. Tip-top quality throughout.

With regard to TraxData, the following is a quote from SVP (http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/FOR_DVD_R_RW_CLICK_HERE.html)

Traxdata Branded << 4x >> DVD-R 4.7gb DVD-R discs in jewel case
One of the most reliable discs on the market.
This high quality 'A' grade DVD-R is manufactured by Ritek. (Ritek own the brand name, so you can bet they would only ever use their best discs for this product!)

I'm sorry to hear that some of you have been stung by TX DVD-Rs, and I hope you have better fortune in future :(
