encoding credits at a lower bitrate

is it possible to edit out the credit part of the movie at a low quality when the rest of the movie ansd sound remains at high quality .. like in Gordion Knot .. ? if i rip out the streams seperately and then do it seperately its possible .. but it takes time and have probs in calculating the total movie size .. so is there an easier method to do this ...

gknot also splits and appends the files...

afaik you can do it with the new EKG - feat in divx 5.05. just do one or two passes, then readjust the birtrate (in other words drop the bitrate in the credits section) and do one more pass...

in xvid it might be possible by manually editing the stats file!

cant i just select the parts seperately in virtualdub and then set different video bitrates for different parts ...
