hi all,

I'm trying to backup 15 minutes PAL version.I tried different approaches but the subs gets screwed up somehow.

org ifo:
http://home.planet.nl/~kost0112/org_ifo.GIF

as you can see it has 4 substreams, each with double ID's.

now, this is how dif4u 1.1.1 sees it:

http://home.planet.nl/~kost0112/dif4u_subs.GIF

as you can see on the right it does say the correct nr of subs, 4.
but on the left you can see it sees it all screwed up, it has non existent ID's in it, and also screws up the mapping.....

ok well, i tried to rip just the english and dutch subs by keeping all (wrongly seen) english and dutch sub id's, ofcourse that went wrong.

then i tried keeping all subsstreams...but that also get screwed up.

it doesnt see the streams right, so when demuxing it sees no subs at all (probably because of the screwed up mapping) and doesnt even create the subs directory.

anyone knows how to handle this weirdness ? I tried various versions of dif4u but no luck. I also tried Instantcopy....which indeed saw 4 subs only...but the end result had some subs missing, so that gets messed up also :(

I've been having a few weird things happen with 1.1.1 too, but only with the output, not with reading my Daemon Tools mounted ISO. Try an earlier version of DIF4U, such as 1.1.0.15.

brash: You have? Why haven't their been postings in the 1.1.1 thread of strange occurances?

toolman: if you just pick the streams that you need (0x21,0x23,0x25,0x27) you should be fine.(?)

I haven't posted it because I'm not convinced it's a 1.1.1 problem. The DTS track is demuxed by DIF4U, but just isn't named correctly so RA doesn't pick it up. The other project I'm doing (Bad Company) also has a DTS track on 0x89, and DIF4U 1.1.1 had no trouble naming it.

oh that DTS problem. I forget to relate the emails with forum nicks when they're drastically different hehe

I took a look at that, and at my code, and really can't figure out why that happens.

i tried checking only the "valid" ones......but didnt work.....it simply doesn not rip any subs at all......

i tried v 1.1.0.13, 1.1.1.0.15 1.1.0.18 and the latest version.....all the same.earlier version do seem to recognize substreams better ,like version .15 does see just the 4 substreams present, however, it doesnt see the mapping correctly, and ,yet again it does not rip any subs at all.

I'd like the see your doitfast4u.log file from these attempts in order to try to get to the bottom of this.

What results does vobsubbing manually get you?

well this is really weird....i just tried again...and now it does work with dif4u!

also, i found out that the main movie contains an english track according to the ifo......and i checked it with subrip....and it does indeed exist, however dif4u + vobsub doesnt see it when ripping
and just skips it....and also all other subs is select on the main movie.

That is weird. Obviously you have a "problem child" project, so it's probably just best to send your log file to Eyes 'Only so he can analyze it as he's offered.
