Sup guys. Since I NEED more media now and can't wait forever for the freaking Riteks to be restocked, I've been eyeing up these.

http://store.yahoo.com/meritline/mer47dvmedfo.html

"Meritline™ brand 4.7 GB V2.0 General purpose DVD Recordable. Meritline™ DVD-R works perfect with your Playstation 2 game console.
It has a long data life span and is certified to be 2X compatible with Panasonic Multi-Drive, LG Multi-Drive, Samsung Multi-Drive, and Sony DRU-500A DVD Burner."

I only saw one post on these forums about them, but at .93$/each for 500 of them that sounds like a steal. So, has anyone used them or have some info on them?

I just can't trust meritline anymore. I'd be placign my money on them being 2x speed princo's, but would happily be proved wrong.

I got those in two sample kits.. they're fake TDK 2x discs and not very reliable. Other Meritline brands (their 1x -Rs, 4x -Rs and 1x -RWs) are all Riteks and of good quality.

Doom9 the disks he has the link to are the 1X disks that are advertised as being able to burn at 2X on some burners and some firmwares there is a seperate meritline DVD-R 2X brand available( http://store.yahoo.com/meritline/me4dvme2xsif.html )thats different from what LB's link directs you to. So if that is true then those 1X meritlines are Ritek G03? that would be great to get a hold of some of those for that price

hmm.. I seem to have gotten something wrong. Now bear in mind that my last Meritline order was in 2002 but at that point, http://www.meritline.com/47dvdisgenpu.html (and thus also http://store.yahoo.com/meritline/mer47dvmedfo.html ) were Ritek G03s, whereas http://store.yahoo.com/meritline/me4dvme2xsif.html were those fake TDKs I mentioned (not to be confused with the genuine 2x TDKs: http://www.meritline.com/tdkdvmed47ge.html). If you want 2x blanks, get the major brand ones, they're your safest bet... or go for the 4x Riteks even if your burner can't do 4x.. (remember that there's no standard for 2x discs.. Pioneer basically gets to decide what can be written at 2x and what not.. some manufacturers play tricks with their IDs to allow for higher burning speed.. but those discs are always crappy.) To my knowledge, all Meritline brand DVD-Rs except for the 2x ones and the white top / printable ones, are genuine Riteks (including the dual side ones).

Now thats awesome news I am in need of some more media and been wanting to try Riteks but everyne is out of them right now and the price has risen to be about 1.30 a disk which I admit is still not that bad I was payin 2 a piece for Verbatims. Might have to give meritline a try despite some reservations. Any other experiences out there maybe more recent? and are there any other Ritek sleepers out there like maybe shop4tech media or supermediastore.com media, ect. ect. ect. ???
