Hi,
This is prolly off topic, but I need help compiling under a windows environment.
I can do simple compiling under linux, but don't know how to do it under windows.
What do I need to have installed??? c++? Visual Basic? delphi?? and what is the command line needed.
Thanks.

Iirc you need:
VC6 with SP5 and processor pack installed
MS Platform SDK
DirectX SDK

Would these packages be Open source or freeware? I presume that it is highly unlikely. Oh well, I'll have to try my luck at uni on Monday.

Visual C++ 6 isn't free (it's a MS program :p) ...
The Service Packs and SDK are freeware (that is you can download them for free on MS website).
Actually I think you will need the Core SDK and the DirectX SDK (I installed both), which are part of the Platform SDK.
The major problem is their size however (near 100MB, and more than 300MB for the complete Platform SDK ...)

it's not big compared to VS 2003, up to 5 GB I think :eek:

I think it is just too much trouble on my part, just so I can enable the a$f parser in vdubmod.
I'll need to learn how to compile sooner or later, just so that I don't feel left out. It also sounds like fun.
For the moment I guess I'll just have to use Avisynth and the DirectShowSource command. I read the Avisynth docs and I'm pretty sure you can't use this to demux a$f files though.
Thanks for the help.
