Removing the subtitles?

Is there any program out there that can actually take out the subtitles on a movie after it is encoded to divx format? I probably doubt it because the movie was encoded with the subtitles in it, but I just figured I would ask?

If they are hard subs (encoded into the video) there is no way of removing them. The closest thing you could do is blot them out, but this would require the video to be compressed again. Which means lower quality.
