I'm looking for a Digital Camcorder than can take moderate quality pictures on flash media or anything actually! The quality can't be THAT bad for the pictures of the video. MiniDV would be supreme. I'm not rick - so keep it in budget (IE - under $1000). Thanks for the advice!
(BTW - if i can get it for under $1000 on ebay - but its really 1500 - thats fine too)

I'm sure it wasn't 1000 Vietnamese Dong (pronounced "dung"). It sounds funny, but it's worth less than US$0.07. :p

well i just wonder how much 1000 Iraqi Dinars would be worth right now :-P
anyway back to the topic... i myself got a sony DVcam at home which is somewhat old though (3 years plus) anyway it still delivers very good quality although the audio leaves quite a bit room for improvement. unfortunately i do not have it at home atm as my dad has taken it with him on his trip to Sri Lanka... i'll see if i can find the version number (or similar) on sony.com though...
it has been a bit more expensive than 1000$/€ though.... don't know exactly as the euro didn't exist at that time!
oh and anyway i guess it won't matter if he was talking about € or $ as one US$ is about .9 € (or was it the other way round :-) damn)

here's the next generation model of the cam i was talking about:

it's $799 on the sony website so i'm sure you might be able to get it way cheaper somewhere else (like ebay)

I tried twice and couldn't get my inserted link to work that went straight to the digital camcorder page, but check out Best Buy. Their hot deal of the week is a JVC Mini DV with a 1.3 Megapixel still for $750 US after a $50 rebate. Go to the home page at www.bestbuy.com and hit the "Browse Weekly Ads" in the nav bar on the left. At first you'll get a really small pic of the weekly ad flyer, and have to download a PDF file in order to view an image that you can actually make out the prices and specs in. If you're in the US (looks like it), and want help from salespersons that are a little more knowledgeable, the guys at Sears seemd to know more about digital cams in general than anyone that I talked to when I was doing my shopping.
