quicktime to xvid/vorbis

i know this is probably a little off topic, but i am intending to use virtualdub!

i'm trying to convert a quicktime .mov file into xvid. i've exported the file from quicktime pro to an uncompressed .avi and nothing will load it, even virtualdub. media player says 'unknown error' and bsplayer says 'unknown file format'.

can anybody shed any light?

Hard to prognose this. You could try to use a info program (for example GSpot), perhaps this will shed light on where the trouble lies.

search the forum and you will find a quicktime plugin for avisynth which works very well!
