Hard, I suppose, since I've asked similar questions (not exactly the same, but answers to this one would help me a lot), in this forum and others, sometimes with no answers, sometimes with answer : "impossible".

Same asked myself...
But I ask you now: why you need it?

If you want put subs on DVD, we have other methods. For AVI playback is no sense, for hard AVI subs we have Textsub or Subtitle plugin.

this way i can distribute my arabic subtitles
cause all my arabic subtitles for english films were stolen
and my name removed from it
and also beacause with this way the subtitle in arabic
the panctuations marks appear in the right way

Well, idx-subtitles can be edited too...
So I think your subs will never be entirely safe...
Best would be to put them into a safe deposit, or bury them in the garden...;)
The only possible way for the conversion I can think of at the moment is that you convert your srt subs to a sst-script with subtitleworkshop or subresync, and then import them with scenarist into any movie which is long enough, create a dvd-image, and then rip them again with vobsub...
But I think this is rather too much work...

There is no way to prevent 'stoling' of your translations and removing your name.
Someone will rip it from DVD. OCR it and do what want.
And pictures in VobSub can be edited too....
