hi,
when you use a tripod for filming, would it be better to leave the optical steadyshot on or switch it off ? What do you think ? And how do you normally do ?
Bye,
David
In my opinion this shouldn't make a difference as long as you don't move the cam. During panning you may get better results with the steadyshot on - depends on how smooth you can pan...

In my opinion, optical steadyshot systems do not degrade the picture quality and can be used all of the time. Electronic steadyshot systesm found on less expensive consumer models do degrade the picture quality and I do not use it when I am using a tripod.

My understanding is that the steadyshot is there to prevent/reduce camera shake. It should be off when the cam is on a tripod.
I use a Panasonic MX8 with optical steady shot and can say that there is no quality lose with steady shot enabled on this camera.
I have found no disadvantage in using steady shot all the time.
Even when mounted on a very smooth, fluid head tripod.
The digital steady shot on my old camera was dreadfull and was best left switched off.

Owen
