Dazzle Or Pinacle ?

Mostly I intend on digitizing my VHS and 8mm tapes so I can edit them, add effects and burn them to CD (VCD) since I don't have a DVD burner yet. I'll eventually be buying a digital camcorder as well.

I was told to look into products from Dazzle, but there is so many choices and it's fairly overwhelming for a newbie like me. I would rather not have an internal card type thingy, but rather an external USB device. Also I want a product that comes with decent entry level video editing software. What other feautures/specifications should I be worried about. What type of hardware would best suit my needs? Is anybody familiar with their product line that could offer me an EXACT recommendation?
