View Full Version : Using original menu in Maestro -> No pic after compiling

Well, so far I am: I took the vts_01_0.vob, used vobedit to split it by VobId. Then demuxing m2v and ac3 of the needed vobid, also took SubRip to extract the subpicture bmp.

The m2v of this original menu sheet is only 1 frame long.

I loaded the 3 assets into Maestro, built the menu (mode: still, but also tried the others), the navigation, the first play, all went fine. The inline video preview showed 100% ok (even the button highlight colors, the first play and so on).

But after compiling (which reported no errors, no warnings), and loading into PowerDVD not the menu is shown as first play but the first movie. Clicking on "Menu -> Main Menu" restarts the first movie again. No access to the menu.

If I load the compiled vts_01_0.vob into MenuEdit, I see the VobId with the correct count of buttons, but when clicking on "edit", no background picture is displayed (just a dark gray background with the button outlines). If I load the splitted vts_01_xxx.vob (from where I got the 1 frame m2v), all is displayed fine.

Seems that Maestrodidn't transport the one frame menu m2v while compiling.

Any suggestions how to get my menu running?

Maestro doesn't like 1-frame .m2v's. Even if preview show ok, after compiling, it won't work...

Just create a .bmp out of the .m2v (you could just load it to Premiere and extract the bmp from there)

Trust me on that! I spend hours trying to figure that out!

for the vobedit part u shouldn't have any problems. Just load vts_xx_0.vob hit the demux button.

The subrip procedure involves loading the _0.vob file through the 'Open vob' command and not 'Open ifo' and subrip by bmp. U obviously not need the text part of the subs only the bmp overlay.

here is what i did:

1:Put the .m2v image into a menu
2:delect the button outline, safe title area, and safe action area
3 make sure that the menu is maximised in Maestro (and that desktop is at least 1200x1024, i use 1600x1200)
4: Press your PrintScreen button
5: Paste it into your graphics app,I used PantShop pro for this.
6: When copying the picture of the menu, make sure that the size is right e.g. PAL = 720 X 567.
7: Save the new menu pic as .bmp, and insert it into maestro.
8. Delete the background .m2v movie and insert the newly created .bmp
9. Re-select the button outline, safe title area, and safe action area, and continue working with the menu.

hope this helps

I would recommend another more elegant approach.

Put your menu in a movie timeline.
Edit the 1st chapter poitn that is created by default at start
in the window that pops up select, down right, save as bmp.
U r done

There was a bug in MenuEdit (last frame in the cell was not shown correctly). Now it is fixed.
