Question about Aspect Ratios

Hi all,

Do you think it is safe to assume for material published on DVD:

TV series or movies(NTSC)= 4/3 ratio
Film (original from cinema)= Widescreen ratios

Now what I would like to know is if any of these is mostly progressive material. I heard Babylon 5 is hybrid, but I don't know if mostly film or video.
