Don't know if this is appropriate for this forum but here goes...
I downloaded an XVID .avi file a couple of weeks ago and had to download the XVID codec to get it to work. Now, all of a sudden, Neither Media Player nor my EZ CD Creater recognizes my mp3 files as mp3. Media Player keeps saying "opening media, searching for codec" and then skips on to the next file in the play list with the same results. If I click on only one file, it says "could not find the codec". EZ CD creater says "invalid file extension, must be .wav or .mp3" even though the files ARE named .mpe. I have to convert my mp3 files to wav files in order to use EZ CD creater to burn a CD now when I didn't have to before. What happened?
When I originally downloaded the video codecs, I first d/l the Nimo50Build8.exe codec pack but that froze my PC and I had to uninstall (it took several tries because I kept getting error messages and it wouldn't uninstall, even though it said "uninstall successful", but finally it did), so I had to d/l just the XvID codec by itself to get the movie to work. I also d/l the DiVX503bundle.exe, but I found that I didn't need that so I uninstalled it.
Anyway, long story short, movie works fine using Irfanview viewer and xvid codec, but now MediaPlayer etc won't recognize my mp3's (although QuickTime WILL play them, go figure). What happened to audio codec for these and what can I do to fix it? It's a real pain having to convert all to wav to burn a CD. Help!
Sorry this is so long.....eek. An a newbie who doesn't know squat!
