Hi everyone!
I'm having some troubles with 4X media in my SONY DRU 500A.
I've already upgrade to 2.0F...and everything remains the same even the old problems remains...i simply can't burn at 4X :( i'm using Princo4x media...and still burn an entire DVD in 30 min...i've tryed everything...old firmware, new firmware, ASAPI drivers update, diferent soft (Nero, Stomp, Alcohol...) and nothing!
I've also noticed another problem, i'm runing a P4 2.53 with Via Mobo and if i install VIA IDE Busmaster with IDE Tool....i just can't burn at all...Burning Software just freeze when sorting DVD files...in all modes, UDF/ISO; DVD-Video;etc..
So when i uninstall IDE Busmaster i can burn ok...but not in 15 minutes.
If someone have a tip it would be very much apreciated.
Thxs.

yep i got the same problem when burning DVD-R Princo 4X with my SonyDRU500Ax firmaware 2.0e, in my case it just gives me an error during recording:(. I've waste 5 DVDs so far.
It gives me the following error: Disc Write Error - Sense:03 ASC:0C ASCQ:08 (Command:2A)
I'm recording with recordnow DX ver4.60, it has always worked fine for my DVD+Rs.
Mys sys is:
Asus a7v266-ex
512 DDR
AMD XP 2100+
80GB Seagate
running Windows XP w/ SP1
Dunno what can be, in 6 DVDs i've only manage to burn one and took me 1 hour :(...if i do it in test mode it takes me the 15min that it should!

Updated to RecordNow Max ver4.50 and now i can burn with no errors...but still it takes me 30 mins to burn a DVD that should take 15 mins.
They're Princo. You get what you pay for. If you want 4x that really burn at 4x (reliably!), then pay the extra for Riteks, Verbatims, TDKs or Pioneers etc.
Arky ;o)

Well...that's not a media suport problem....i've already tryed ritek, and results are the same...and i have a friend who's burning at 4X with the same configuration of hardware that i have...so i'm sure it must be something else. Txs for replying anyway.

The problem is not all Ritek G04 media is the same. I bought two 100 packs from rima.com only about 2 weeks apart. The one I bought later only will burn at 2X. The first pack did burn at 4X but only with firmware 1.0d.
