Been trying to get a AVSEQ01.mpeg file off a SVCD and onto my hard drive ,but i keep getting a message 'I/O device error. The SVCD plays in WinDVD but not in any other player ie ZoomPlayer,WinMediaPlayer etc.Tried to encode directly from CD using Tmpeg encoder ,but it wont read the file saying it cannot open or unsupported, any help on this would be appreciated very much

Hi-

I've run into this problem with an .avi before. It usually means that the video is corrupted somehow if you can't get it to the hard drive. What I did before was to get the whole thing off the CD as an image file and then to use IsoBuster to extract the original files.

As for reencoding it; it's not a true .mpg file, but a renamed .dat file. So you rename it as AVSEQ01.dat, and then use VCDEasy to convert it to true .mpg (that part is real fast-it's not really reencoding it). Then you can do with it as you want, but if it's really corrupted, you may have problems.

managed to extract it using CloneCD to an image file ,tho there was a few unreadable sectors.Used VCDgear to convert image to mpg and all seemed alright untill someone spoke. The sound is at least 5sec ahead of the movie(DOH).Think the SVCD might have some sort of encoding on it if this is possible.is there any good programs for resynch of mpg's.
will try your method l8ter (getting late)
cheers for the advice
