need help with dvdit

i have some mpegs

when i write them to vcd with nero (default settings) it works fine with sound ok if not perfect

but when i use dvdit select mpeg1 player option i can only put half the files on the dvd-r than a standerd file copy (for computer only)
and the sound is way out of sync

any help or info or even a link to a guide that can help
as i have looked and cant get anyware

i just want a few mpegs on a dvd with a 1 screen still menu

that can play on my stand alone dvd player
