View Full Version : How to re-encode to reduce file size of m2v files?

Hi,

I'm trying to back up a Buffy disc which has 4 episodes on it, the disc is about 8GB and i've ripped each episode to the following files:

BuffyEP1.m2v with corresponding BuffyEP1.ac3 sound file.
BuffyEP2.m2v with Buffy EP2.ac3, etc..thru to BuffyEP4.m2v and EP4.ac3

I would like to use the ac3 file with a re-encoded m2v file so as to fit all four episodes onto a single 4,700,000,000 DVD-R.

I am familiar with backing up "main movie only" discs, and use DVD2SVCD (which uses CCE) to re-encode the main movie.

However, the buffy disc obviously has 4 different "movies" as such, and is a bit more complicated for me to back up.

Are there any guides to re-encode m2v files as I need? What programs do I need?

I already have guides on how to author the four episodes with a simple menu using such programs like DVDit! but I'm just stumped on the "making the m2v file smaller but with good quality".

I'm extremely happy with my DVD2SVCD method of re-encoding movies to fit them onto DVD-R's, so I'd like to use CCE as well on these buffy episodes in order to keep the quality as high as possible.

I have used reMPEG2 to re-encode movies but they ended up with really bad quality.

Thanks in advance for any pointers. :)
