Project: Backup of X-Files season disc, using InstantCopy. But due to IC's incorrect sizing issue, I want to strip disc of subs/lang's/etc.., then run IC..

1. Ripped X-Files season disc
2. Stripped main vob's of subs/languages, etc..
3. Swapped original vob's with new stripped ones (renamed to appropriate VTS)
4. Opened original main title VTS_xx_0.IFO in IFOedit.95 and hit "Get VTS Sectors" (click 'OK' several times..)

Result: PowerDVD will not play files due to incorrect Region

5. Open VIDEO_TS.IFO and hit 'Region Free'

Result: Still won't play

What have I done incorrectly. I followed derrow's guide at mpucoder.com. I have save all original IFO's into separate folder. Please advise.

note: I've done this a number of times before without problems.. I'm stuck.. Thanks!

Remove region coding on all ifo files, not just video_ts.ifo

Thanks, mpucoder, but..

I still can't get it right.. Am I also to 'Get VTS Sectors' on each IFO or will any 1 IFO suffice?? Also, I loaded each IFO, then clicked 'Region Free' for each... still nothing. Could you please post the specific steps or refer to a link with details, please??

I just don't understand.. I've done this before without problem.. could it be my drive or perhaps this particular disc?? Both versions of Decrypter had problems ripping this particular disc (X-Files season 3, disc 4).. ??

Thanks again..

I missed the last line about you've done this before and it worked. In that case then it is very possible that this DVD is doing something that IfoEdit's RCE removal misses.
Just one thing comes to mind, the very confusing part about the region to select. You did set it to the region that the DVD expects, right?

Yes, I set region code appropriately to "1", as i'm in the U.S. (NTSC). Again, it's odd b/c I have done prior X-Files season but i did NOT do them using this method (using IFOedit to strip prior to running IC). I'm only using IFOedit, as IC has a tendency to waste disc space due to incorrect sizing..

Could you quickly run thru the steps again after stripping, please? I strip subs/langs/vob id's and click 'Create New IFO's'. After that, maybe i'm making mistake, i.e., click 'Get VTS Sectors' on each IFO, click 'Region Free' on each IFO, etc... Thanks!!
