Correct me if I am wrong, but I have heard some bad things about QDesign's Mpeg audio codec. Especially at hydrogenaudio, I have heard many people comment on how poor quality it gives. But maybe if you want to save some time that will be the price you have to pay.

There is a cyberlink mpeg1 layer-2 directshow encoder that probably comes with PowerDVD. But IMO its quality sucks.

hmm... Never heard a lot of difference between mpeg1 layer2 encoders, except in some cases using different PAM.
I respect a lot hydrogenaudio people, but be aware that there are often high-end users with high-end receivers and high-end hears :). So, you should probably make tour own opinion by trying.
If you want directshow and have a pinnacle card, you could also try wavtompa.ax
ps : I personnaly use besweet with latest toolame (not directshow) build for all my encodes.

this qdesign acm thingy is much too expnsive for me. even if time is money, my time costs less money :D
however, thx for the replies.
@FuPP: besweet doesnt work here (any version), i have no idea why, but the direct extraction from the avi (i read it would) doesnt work and the wave to mp2 conversion with toolame gets also fucked up (no sound, just silence.. )
regards,
bu
UPDATE:
i found the wavetompa.ax inside the T-Rex trial version. works very fast and i dont hear any artifacts..(iam not a pro-listener, however *g*)
thx for the tip!
