hey there... I am working with Premiere 6.0 and i want to be able to preview my project. So i press the play button, but somehow Premiere doesn't let me preview in real time. The only way for me to see my work is to export it. And when i export my project, it takes tooo longg... my project is only 8022 frames...and it say it will take 2 hours !!! is there a way to preview my working project in real time ...so that i can see my effects that i just apply ?? Or is there a way for me to speed up the exporting ...I am currently running P4 2.5 RDRam. THANK YOU..
P.S. is it faster if i render in MPEG ??

You again. :) Anyway, Premiere 6.0 does not have real-time preview, but version 6.5 has. And what happened to Vegas? I thought you said you always use it? It has real-time preview which I like more than Premiere 6.5. How many effects you have in your clip? This can affect export duration. Also, you can try using the MainConcept codec within Premiere since it renders faster. But with the rig setup you have, I think the real-time preview in Vegas would be buttery-smooth.*cough*beer*cough*

yes..it's me again...:D Oh Premiere 6.0 doesn't have real time preview ?? I didn't know that... well after I resized my clip and made it alpa channel...and i want to preview the clip, so that i can see how it is.. Man, I can't see anything...all i can see is the background clip and not the resized overlay clip. I so piss....I can't even view my effects after I applied it...the only way is to render it...damn it...
I also have Premiere 6.5, but dont' know where's everything at. I usually use the "transform" to resize and position my clips. And the "transform" usually be under the "Perspective" tab under the "transition"...but in 6.5 i can't find it anywhere...hehehe...maybe i missed it somewhere but can't find it..So need to get my project done..so I jump back to 6.0...:p And in 6.0 i pretty much knows where everything i needed.
Ohh about Vegas...oh man...still loving it...I'll be using it forever...but this time I have to say Vegas does not meet up to Premiere...well I said that because Veagas does not suppoer Hollywood FX...only Premiere, Avid, and Pinnacle stuff does. So i have to jump to Premiere to get all of the FX that Hollywood FX has to offer...and YES, I have to say that...Hollywood FX is the top of my list for FX...It has so many FX that you can use and created your own...Vegas 4 has FX..but not enough and not cool enough... So that's why i have to jump to Premiere...even though i try to stay away from Premiere...because it's hard to learn...and hard to manage it...Vegas is still the best for EASY, FAST, NLE editing...but for pros...Premiere is still on top......
So i guess...only 6.5 will have real time preview right ???
Well I have my comp. for 7 months now...I am thinking of upgrading it. I work at a computer place soo all of that stuff comes for free...I am thinking of building another computer with dual cpu...but still seaching for good mother board... and that will be my working comp. and the rest of my comp. will be on the side encoding..decoding..and stuff like that...hehehe
P.S. I think you should have a look at Hollywood FX....if u want cool FX

Some of the guys are doing several of their oddball favorite operations/FX in Premiere, then using Satish's new frameserver to serve to Vegas and do the rest. You might try it.

I took a look at the specs of Hollywood FX, and I think I am now convinced to give it a try. :) I only wish it is Vegas-compatible. But I guess I gotta go back to Premiere just to give it a test drive.

If you're loking for a place to throw away your discarded pc, I know a good place..at my backyard. If you intend to have a dual-cpu rig for your next setup, why don't you go for AMD? And you said that your stuff comes for free? :) Dammit, some guys just get lucky.

ohh..really..is that possible ?? how ?? with what ?? how ?? Just download the frameserver from this link and install it: http://www.debugmode.com/pluginpac/frameserver.php
It will install a frameserver for both Vegas and Premiere.
Get the project ready in Premiere and export via the PluginPack frameserver. You will have given it a name ending with ".AVI". This is called the signpost file. With Premiere up and running load the signpost file in the Vegas timeline and do the additional operations you desire. The frameserver forges an "invisible link" between the time-lines of the two NLEs. Vegas just thinks it has loaded a standard avi. This can be very cool. Also, one could do the reverse. You can serve from Vegas to Premiere.
