I have always used xmpeg so that I don't have to rip the dvd first. I started using ogg audio and .ogm some time ago. I would encode audio to pcm save the audio, encode in ogg, oggmux.

After I tried Autodub, I saw that the quality of virtualdub is much better than that of flask, which is what people have been telling me for years and I didn't see why, I just didn't want to have to wait 20 minutes for the DVD to rip to hard drive.

Are there any other frame servers than the commercial one from videotools.net(aka.. premiere video server plugin for flask) that will go directly from DVD, no ripping, to frameserve to avisynth or vdub?

Thanks

avisynth should work with vdub but i'm not totally sure if it does it properly.

I sort of asked the same thing here

Till this date I still don't know if it is possible to frameserve audio from a dvd along with it's video through either xmpeg vdub or dvdx. I don't see how it would be possible through vdub, like to go directly form dvd to it, because I've never seen a dvd decrypter plugin or a mod with a dvd decrypter built in for it.
Nowadays you can encode video 2x(~60fps) the speed of realtime so ripping the dvd to the hard drive is just a waste of time and takes up space(i know space is not an issue but how else can i put it when i hear the hd screaming and screaming whenever the dvd gets ripped to it). Plus the 2x limit on the dvd read speed is being broken and dvd-rom drives cost as low as $26 at local retails so not as much a big worry about it getting warped as a few years ago. So there is definitley going to be a need for a simpler way to encode the dvd right from the dvddrive while decrypting at the same time.
