View Full Version : Trailer in Movie Titleset (How to CCE it?)

I'm trying to do a 1:1 copy of 'Proof of Life' R2 (Japan) using the Robshot method with CCE and DVD Maestro.
No big deal, except that the trailer is contained in the main movie titleset (in VTS_01_7.VOB, along with the Warner Logo and anti-piracy warning). Said titleset has 4 PGCs, the first being the movie and 2,3 & 4 being the above bits. The 'making of' feature is in a separate titleset.
I know I could rip to movie-only with IfoEdit and re-encode that, but I'd really like to make a 1:1 conversion.
How should/can I go about re-encoding the main movie (which is just over 6 gig) and still manage this?
(Please no suggestions for DVD Shrink or quickie progs, I'm looking for quality here.)

and more and more.
Just use search with Maestro + multi PGC.

That's good for u. Looking for quality I mean.
My procedure goes like this.
DVD2Avi the whole titleset. This would give u a d2v project containing the movie, logo, trailer etc and the audio.
CCE the d2v project
Open ifoupdate and save chapter file (adjusted cell mode) from there. File/Save chapter file (chp).
Import resulting m2v and audio in Maestro. U can throw in the subttiles u want. I use subrip for it.
Import the Maestro chapter point file.
Build the titleset
Open up ifoupdate and select Adjusted Cell Mode. I assume that u know how to use this miracle.
Select the original ifo and the reauthored one. Click Update. Ifoupdate would adjust all the cells accordingly and give u a identical structure as the original dvd. So u will end up having a title set that will contain all the original assets in the correct order.
Get VTS Sectors and burn.

Can I ask you how do you handle with audio with different bitrate. In my experience if you have more PGC in one titleset at least one PGC has different audio bitrate (mostly stereo) and therefore you get two audio files from DVD2AVI - one 6ch and one 2ch.

Reading your post, one might think that u r asking what one must do if it has 2 audio to deal with. Well this is easy and the only thing needed to be done is assign each audio to its position.
Another interpretation of your post is what to do if u have an audio with different bitrates. In this case u wont get two audio streams but an one invalid.
This is not normal and unless the authorer forced, using a trick or something, the insertion of different bitrate audio in the same audio stream number, I have yet to come across an audio that wont be accepted by Maestro or Scenarist.
However I have faced the situation were there is a small cell, usually a few frames one, that mostly is audioless and this can lead to trouble.
In these, rare, cases I am denuxing by vobid and I am aligning the resulting audio files in timeline manually using different audio positions and forcing playback from ifoedit through PGCITI.
Thanx for reply :)
To be more precise - four months ago I backuped Opeariton Swordfish R2. There was titleset including 4 PGCs. First was Warner logo, second was some studio interview with actors, third was main movie and the last PGC was only few still frames. So what I get was 2 audio tracks: 6ch logo + main movie and 2ch interview with actors.
Unfortunately 2ch audio had to be between logo and main movie. So my question is - could here be used your method using IfoUpdate Maestro mode? Scenarist way is little bit slow (rip by PGC -> encode it separetely in CCE -> scanchap -> rebuilding the original structure -> ... -> IfoUpdate -> burn.
I found this maestro method very usefull when there are PGCs including e.g. studio logo, dolby trailer, movie etc (all with the same quality (6ch or 2ch) audio stream). And I want to know if there is some trick to use it for such DVD like one mentioned above.

U can use the ifoupdate forced audio playback with practically any movie.
I have to check the ifo in order to visualize the correct position of the audio streams in the vobs.
U may think that 2ch audio is inbetween the logo and mainmovie, whereas actually it might be in the end or anywhere else and playback between these two by invoking jump commands. Furthermore this audio could be in another audio position altogether. These questions can only be answered only by looking at the audio positions in PGCITI in ifoedit.
I am more than willing to help you. Just send me the ifos in question and we can work the solution one step at the time.

Do you use another method to ivtc rather than Forced Film in DVD2AVI? You probably couldn't use Forced Film because the trailer is more than likely interlaced, while the main movie is not. How would you go about getting around that?

Sorry for the delay but I dont ivtc, I am a Pal user.

No problem. I guess for pure interlaced material mixed with film content you'd have to do each PGC seperately and then re-author with Scenarist. Anyways, I gave Adjusted Cell Mode a shot and I get an error when trying to update the original ifo.
"Original/New cell counts don't match"
Oh well. Doing it the long way I suppose.
