Hello.. I used dvdshrink to strip away the extras on a dvd and just keep the main movie (minus credits) I went to re-encode it (movie was still to big so i had to compress) and got an error right at the end. I checked some forums (digital digest seems to be the authors "home") and this is apparently a known bug. Anyways i get 5 vob files that play back perfect in powerdvd.. However i dont have anything else like ifos or whatever else a standalone dvd player would need (im clueless there) Is there anyway to create these from the vobs? the only thing that dvd shrink spit out were the 5 vob files that equaled the entire movie.

My goal is to make this movie playable on standalone players. If anyone can help i'd appreciate it! im very new to this dvd stuff (although i've done svcds and divx) My dvd burner hasnt even arrived yet!

and just to throw this out there.. could i just put the 5 vobs in an image file and burn it? Will it play on a standalone player? I doubt it. I think i need all that ifo type stuff. I dont wanna waste any of these expensive discs so please help!

Just use IFOEdit that will create new IFO`s for you VOBset

just click Create IFO`s , a box will open up , Just tick Create 1 PGC Only & Also tick Create chapters for each cell ,, Browse for the VOBs And tick Same as Source..

Hope that Helps..

the best way is to use DVDToolbox to strip out the movie after ripping it

this will create new IFO's automatically but more importantly keep the original chapter points and it will work with any backup tool after that

rip the main IFO/BUP's along with the movie's IFO/BUP/VOB's as shown in this pic HERE (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/backup/movieonly/rip.png) using DVDecrypter or SmartRipper

then open DVDToolbox and point it to the VIDEO_TS.IFO and choose the PGC for the movie and the audio/subs you want and that's it

after 7-8 mins you should have the files ready for processing

thanks! i have no idea if it worked but it did create 2 ifos and 2 bup files. I just need to figure out how to mount this on daemon tools to test it. Thanks a lot. Time to hit the guides again
