View Full Version : Why is my input file showing up as too long

Okay I am having a weird problem...I'm trying to use TMPGEnc to convert an AVI to VCD...nothing fancy.

When I play the AVI in WMP, it shows up as 27mins (as I would expect)

However, when I load it into TMPGEnc, it is showing up as 90+ minutes, and the resulting encode is estimating at close to 1GB...

What could be causing this?

I have tried it on 4 separate AVIs that are all in the same format, and they are all showing up the same way.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this strangeness?

Thanks.

Why this happens - don't know.

But you can correct it when u go into the SETTINGS and then activate the "Source Range" in the Advanced folder.

What is after the 27mins to see ?

Thanks...

That is weird...when I go to source range, the very last frame is at 27 45 I CAN'T go past that, then when I continue it realizes the correct lenghth...if I don't do that , it thinks it is 90+mins..

That is too weird....

looks like yet another bug from TMPGEnc..

Did you use the slider? Not the button "Move to end frame"!

I think somethime files are damaged (may be the fileheader which contained the file info), but still work - if you want to encode/decode the the damage is too high and you get errors (like yours in this case).

Does your AVI contain VBR-MP3. This makes TMPGenc behave strange.
Just decompress (Full Processing mode) your Audio with Virtualdub. Then it should work with TMPGenc.

VBR Audio (mp3) mostly makes problems in coding audio, but okay, I never had this error in this case. With the range setting the problem should be gone. (using the slider!)
