I burned a mpg file thru nero (latest version) to create a vcd and everything was fine. Playing in the dvd player+TV was an other story : Sound & vidéo ok but out of synch, the player was playing roughly 10 seconds of film (sound slowly desyncronizing), then paused, started again and so on...

The film is perfect on my comp so what's happening ?

datas given by media player:

film is mpeg1,

MPEG Video decoder :
352*240, 1150000 bits/s, 23.97 fps
color

default direct sound device :
wFormatTag 1
nchannel 2
nSamplePaerSec 44100
nAvgBytesPerSec 176400
nBlockAlign 4
Freq 1.00
Mpeg audio decoder :
cd audio stéréo
Video renderer:
Quality tab:
Mean Freq 23.97
Instability 2 ms
mean synchro shift 0 ms
Periph syncro shift 2ms

Any idea ? I suspect a problem about those 23.97 fps... do I have to resample the video to 25 fps and how to do this ?

TIA.

"how did you burn the movie to CD? "

Just dragged n dropped the film to nero, letting it convert the mpg to the right format.

There are known issues whilst using the "drag 'n drop" within Nero. Click here (http://www.mrbass.org/dvd2svcd/burn/) and check out mrbass's neat guide on using Daemon in conjunction with Nero. A search for "Foolproof Method" will turn up good clues too.

One of the reasons that Killingspree pointed out the forum rules on posting, is that a properly titled post is more easily reflected by the search engine results, making it less painful for future searchers to find solutions to their problems. For example, let's say that the answer/s to your problem are to be found within this thread, but the real problem turns out to have nothing to do with the title of your post. The search engine will still return the mis-titled thread, as it reaches down into the thread itself and searches for content within, but when you're looking at, say, 150 returns for your search, you tend to go with the titles that more closely reflect your current problem, and you might blow right on by one at the top of the list that would have given you the fix right away. People will help you out, if they don't have to wade through too much mud to get to the heart of the problem. Make sense? Another thing, a lot of people that are really good at this will drop into the Noobs forum, blast through new threads with just a look, and if they don't see anything interesting, they're outta here in seconds, not minutes. If your post has a goofy title, it might not even get a second look from the very person that's highly qualified to give you a fix. Moderator Mark recently covered this topic with a sticky over in Basic.

Synch issues are a common problem, and are covered from a multitude of angles. Try entering a search using "out of synch" and see how many hits you get. If those results are too generic, try refining your search from there. Sometimes a hard nut takes several whacks to crack.

Anyway, check out the stickies at the top of the DVD2SVCD Basic Topics home page and the forum rules at the top of any page, and you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. All stickies are a "must read" and will really do you right. The search engine here will enable you to fix most of your own problems........if you can figure out what they are, I still struggle with that part of it too. Good luck!

DeltaFX:

You get high marks for netiquette, but I'm not sure I understand yet what the nature of your problem was, exactly. I ran across this quote by Ddogg recently, and it goes straight to what we're working on here. If you're interested in reading the whole thread from which I edited this, run a search on "trouble ticket", and it'll pop right up.

thanks for letting us know the outcome and setting a good example by "closing the trouble ticket". It is imperative that a person that posts a problem close that thread with the resolution. There is nothing more frustrating than a "one post wonder" who never returns to report their outcome.
The "one post wonder" is not directed at you, it's merely a part of the quote. I don't know if mrbass's guide helped you, if a search on "out of synch" helped you, if you identified a totally different problem, or if you're still searching for a solution to your problem. I've often found that putting a solution down on paper (virtual or hardcopy), helps to reinforce the lesson and makes it easier for me to pull back up later, either to use again for myself, or to help a friend. If you'll bear with me and contribute a little more feedback, maybe we can give this "trouble ticket" a proper send-off, as suggested by Ddogg. Think back to the users that may be viewing this in the future and let's give them something to sink their teeth into.

In fact, I have 39 episod of 'Les mystérieuses Citées D'Or' (anime) on cd, already in mpeg1 format. I tried burning them to a vcd ( drag & drop to nero with the vcd wizard) => choopy video, le stand alone player was resynch'ing every 5 seconds. Playing with the deamon tools was far too far on the dark side so I tried VCDEasy.... bong ! same problem.... so the lazzy way :

I reinstalled wincoder2 (even if this version sucks) and asked it to burn me a PAL vcd. Bingo.

The video was 23.976 fps (NTSC ?) and my stand alone player was perhaps having trouble to convert a ntsc vcd to pal for display thus video desynchro...

Now video is 25fps (ugly because Intervideo resampling is ehr..... sh..t, sound @ 44.1khz and it seems to work :)

If it finally appears not to works, I'll end up hooking the vcr to the tv output and rec my animes following the barbarian way
