View Full Version : VCDXBuild fails to create a bin/cue file

I have been using DVD2SVCD+TMPGEnc with success until recently, but now every time I try to encode a movie I get an error right at the end of the process; VCDXBUILD fails to create a CD image. I recently upgraded from 1.1.2 build1 to 1.1.3 build2. I have re-installed this version, and re-installed ASPI, but the problem persists. The download link for 1.1.2 seems to be down.

The muxed files play ok. I have included logs below.

My system is an Athlon950 with WindowsXPsp1.

Yeah, I've had this one. Never did find a proper answer for it either.

The only solution I found was to use Nero's SVCD template.
Use WinDVD, PowerDVD or (at a push) Windows Media Player to open the bbMPEG Muxed Files in your Movie folder.

(in your case C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\bbMPEG\RunbbMPEG.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\MovieA)

and check they play OK. Assuming they do, 5.x will burn them to an SVCD with the Super Video CD template. You will unfortunately lose the chapters but unless someone comes up with a better answer that's probably better than re-encoding from scratch and hoping for the best.

Nick, thanks for the suggestion.

I have used Nero to burn vcd's when I want to include a selection of files on the same cd (usually music videos from DVD), because I don't see a way to do that with DVD2SCVD.

Hi jenny!

You can try the following:
open the xml file in an editor, between the lines
<default-entry id="entry-000" />
and
<entry id="entry-chapt-03">381.480</entry>
put this line:
<entry id="entry-chapt-02">100.000</entry>

Now save it and search your log for the commandline to create the image and execute it manually again. Then let me know ift it works.

Ok, yes it worked, I have a bin/cue file, but only one image is created, for the first cd. So, the question now seems to be why is my xml file messed up? Here's the command in operation, seems to expect all of the chapters to be part of the first muxed file? Chapters 13 to 16 are in the second muxed file.

Hello!

You are right, the xml file is messed up. It seems that dvd2svcd created one big xml file for both Cds. I´m sorry, ut the only proper solution would be to author the VCDs yourself (VCDEasy, TSCV, Nero...).

I have managed to fix the problem. I reinstalled DVD2SVCD again, but this time I went back to version 1.1.2 build-1. Works perfectly :)
I guess theres a bug in 1.1.3 build-2?

I had the same problem, and I went back to 1.1.2 build 1 as well after reading your post. However, it seems that the chapters are still not created properly. Have you checked your CCXBuilder_log.txt? Here is mine:

I have just completed an encode, and my VCXBuilder log looks very similar to yours, but I'm not sure the anomaly we're seeing here is a problem. I have compared the chapters on my VCD with those on my DVD and they start playback at exactly the same points.

Have you tried the second CD? The first one seems ok, since all the extra entry points are ignored anyway. But the second looks fishy to me, as it seems to be treated exactly the same way as the first by VCDXBuild. Therefore, the chapters would be correct on the first CD, but wrong on the second.

Anyway, I have since disabled chapters as it's not such a big deal for me, but it might be important for others so this bug should be reported.

Yes, my second CD is fine, but I encoded each disc separately.

Exactly the same problem here...annoying that dvd2svcd has in every version some new vcd image problems...well, since there is a version that creates good images i am using cvdeasy for this job
