View Full Version : Farscape - chapter menu on start?

I have tried to get this working and am hitting a sticking point. Maybe someone else can take this as a challenge (2cool?) OR maybe someone has done this.
I want the Farscape DVD to jump to the chapter menu upon insert. For most of these DVDs the chapter menu resides in VTS_01_0.IFO as a VOB_ID in the menu language unit.
In my case for Season 2 disc 4.1 NTSC, it was VOB_ID5 which pointed me to PGC_Menu11. So I changed the root_menu's 1st pre-command to Link PGC 11.
Now it does jump to the chapter menu on startup. But if you click on any of the buttons it stops playing. If I go to the main menu and come back it works. So I am assuming there are some GPregs its using that are not set correctly, but I could not figure it out.

Look in your movie's IFO / VTS Overview / Menu Language Unit section. Do you have a [Chapter (PTT) Menu] present? You can have a "(JumpSS_VTSM) Jump to Titleset Menu" command jumping to your chapter menu instead of root in your VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMGM_MAT / First Play PGC / PGC Command Table. Edit your first jump command in this section to jump to your chapter menu.
Here's an example of what I want you to see present. If it is not, then can you preview your other menus to find which Menu contains your chapter selection pages? Double click on any menu that uses a VOB-ID. Usually the menu with alot of chapters may be your chapter selection menu. Post back with your finding of which Menu is it in.
Language Menu Unit 1: [ ]
..Menu 1: [Root-Menu]
..Menu 2: [Audio Menu]
..Menu 3: [Angle Menu]
..Menu 4: [Sub-picture Menu]
..Menu 5: [Chapter (PTT) Menu]
Edit:
Sorry, I was in a rush and didn't quite read your whole post as you already had given your Menu that has your chapter menu in it. Anyway, do this...
In your movie's IFO / VTSM_PGCI_UT, scroll down to your Menu_11 and double-left click on your VTSM_PGC Category Menu mask. Enter new value of 135 and save IFO. Now, I'm assuming you don't have a [Chapter (PTT) Menu] present as you would have done a jump to your chapter menu already in your First Play PGC. There can't be two of these present in your Menu Language Unit.

Now, in your First Play PGC, jump to your chapter menu and save IFO. Let me how this worked.

I tried it and it did jump to the chapter menu, but still stopped when I clicked on the buttons.
Whats bizzare is the button for the second episode works and the buttons on it work. And if I enter the 2nd episode screen and go back to the first episode menu, then it starts working.
So it must ne some Gpreg its checking. I will monitor the Gpregs and report back. But my past experiences with trying the use the HEX editor to set Gpreg commands in IFOEdit was painful since it crashed every time I tried. Any tips for setting Gpregs or is their another tool?
Thanks.

Try using current version of MenuEdit to inquire on what the command is behind your problem button. It's easier than using VOBEdit.
