Hello, I'm VERY new to anything dealing with Xvid stuff, and I'm having a problem with trying to convert an Xvid (AVI) file to SVCD. I'm using DVD2SVCD ver 1.1.3 build2 With TMPGEnc plus 2.5. It goes through the entire process up till the Muxing and Cutting stage, at which point I get the following error:

bbMPEG - error
Unable to read from file D:\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1.mp2

In the bbMPEG window is this info:

Video: none

Audio: none

Output MPEG information
Video: none

Audio: none

Multiplexing: video and one audio stream
program stream type: SVCD with pulldown auto-detection
video file: D:\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_PAL.mpv
audio 1 file: D:\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1.mp2
program file: D:\DVD2SVCD\Movie\bbMPEG_Muxed_File.mpg

In the DVD2SVCD log window is this info:

I have these files:

Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_PAL.mpv
Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav
Encoded_audio_1.aif
Extracted_audio_1.mpa
changecdpicture.bmp.mpg
titlepicture.bmp.mpg
Encoded_audio_1.mp2

I'm missing the file "bbMPEG_Muxed_File.mpg" (assuming because of the bbMPEG error?), and the last file listed above (Encoded_audio_1.mp2) is 0 bytes in size. Can anyone help me please on solving why I get this error? Is there another way to get around the problem? I have already re-done the first steps to re-rip and transcode the audio, in case the originals had somehow gotten corrupt, but still get the same errors when I get to the Muxing and Cutting stage.
Thank you for any help

Ok first of all you don't need DVD2SVCD unless your making the SVCD from the original DVD. You can use TMPEG to convert you Xvid movie into a compliant SVCD. Just load your AVI movie file and select the SVCD profile from the bottom right button. Push Load and select the SVCD options. Then press start and about 10 hours later you will an MPEG2 stream which you can burn as SVCD.

Cool, thanks for the advice Hiro2k :)
I have a question though....is there not anyway I can use the file(s) already created in DVD2SVCD to complete the process, instead of having to start everything over from scratch again? I've already gone through the whole process twice and the audio extraction/transcoding several times, and if in any way possible would like to not have to spend any more time than needed on duplicating processes that have already been completed. As listed above, the DVD2SVCD process has already produced these (among other) files:

Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_PAL.mpv 1,339,500 KB
Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav 867,947 KB
Encoded_audio_1.aif 797,417 KB
Extracted_audio_1.mpa 80,576 KB
Encoded_audio_1.mp2 0 KB (The file I need to create but fails, I think)

If there is no other way than doing the whole thing from scratch in TMPEG (is that the same thing as TMPGEnc?) then I'll do it, but if possible would like to save a little time.
Thanks again for you help.

Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_PAL.mpv 1,339,500 KB

Try and open that file in your movie player and see if it's your movie. Then check to see if it's an MPEG2 and at the right resolution. It should be 480x480. If it is then you can save yourself some time and reuse that file as your video.

Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav 867,947 KB

Well that one seems to be the audio file for your movie, but check to see that it's complete. If it is, then you can use BeSweet to encode that .wav into an .mp2. Then in TMPEG you can mux the video and the .mp2

Also TMPEG is short for TMPEGnc

WOOOTT!!! Thanks Hiro2k....That worked Great :D
I installed the GUI for BeSweet and converted the wav file to an mp2 file manually (instead of as part of the automated process in DVD2SVCD), and was then able to complete the process normally.

And you're right, after checking out the guides more, it seems that converting an Xvid (Avi) to Svcd is simpler in TMPGEnc than using DVD2SVCD.
However...this was the first time I've dealt with Ripping from Xvid or Avi really...I've always only dealt with DVDs and MPGs...and have been a big fan of DVD2SVCD for it's combining of so many processes in one easy to use GUI, That I use it by force of habit lol
Thanks again :)
