View Full Version : @DD - BeSweetGUI v.6b73 losing BeSweet app path

The GUI does not remember BeSweet.exe location. When I reopen app I have to provide path again.
Tracking with regedit: It seems like the path is being deleted in the registry when starting BeSweet.

What is Your OS?
What is the Full Path of BeSweet.exe?
Are BeSweet.exe and the GUI in the Same Dir?

Danni.

Windows XP.
Full path:
C:\Programme\MultiMedia\AUDIO\En- Transcoder+ Editor\BeSweetv1.5b14\BeSweet.exe
Gui is placed in this folder: C:\Programme\MultiMedia\AUDIO\En- Transcoder+ Editor\BeSweetGUI0.6b69
not the same folder.
I know that some applikations sometimes don't get along with spaces in folder names or long paths in general, but so far none of the previous besweet GUI versions did have any problems, except that in entry box for "besweet.exe" location only the first part of the path (until "En- Transcoder")was shown. Command line showed correct full path.

It Works for Me On Win2K With the Same Paths You Use.

What Happens if You
1. Erase 'Path(16)' from the Registry
2. Put the GUI in BeSweet's DIR
3. Run the GUI.

?

Do You See the Auto Added Path of BeSweet.exe?
If You Do, Does the GUI Remember It?

This way it works.
But this method does not explain why it resets the path every time.
But running on your machine (also w2k mode) with exe placed other than ".", what could cause the error on mine?
I have to add that sometimes my browser refuses to open documents with a long path: "cannot find document".

Thanks for your help DD :)

Anytime Bluedan :)

If Path(16) is Clear Then the GUI Checks for BeSweet.exe in GUI's DIR Else It Will Use Path(16).

I Think the Problem is With the Returning Result After Checking for BeSweet.exe.
I Guess the Problem Occurs When BeSweet.exe isn't There.

Maybe It's Not Compatible With XP But I Don't Have XP Installed So I Can't Check.

I've searched for an answer and can't find one.

BesweetGUI v0.6b73 seems to forget the path to besweet.exe every time I start.

I've regression tested with .6b67 and .6b61 and they work fine. Version .6b73 seems to be the only one that doesn't work for me.

Does this happen for anyone else?

More proof my search skills suck!

My OS is win2k

Paths:
GUI:
C:\Program Files\Besweet Tools\BeSweetGUIv0.6b73
Besweet:
C:\Program Files\Besweet Tools\BeSweetv1.5b11

The strange thing is it works fine with the older versions of the GUI App.

I moved everything to one messy directory and it was working better.

I'm Not Sure I Fixed It But Try b74 (http://dannidin.iwebland.com/BeSweetGUIv0.6b74.rar)

Danni, I just tried to set azid, besweet and other paths. Quit and launched again. The paths are still there.

Thanks!!!

I also had problems with BeSweetGUI v0.6b73. It didn't loose the path to the ".exe" but every time I started a conversion (AC3 to MP2, MP3, WAV) BeSweet (NOT BeSweetGUI) would crash with the following message:
"BeSweet.exe - Application Error: The instruction at '0x00000000' referenced memory at '0x00000000'. The memory could not be 'read'."
I updated all the components from BeSweet and BeSweetGUI from the previous versions of v1.5b16 and v0.6b71 respectively, which did work properly, to v1.5b17 and v0.6b73 and this was my first time using them. After testing, reading this thread, then installing BeSweetGUI v0.6b74, the problem vanished.

FYI to DanniDin, Here's how I confirmed the problem w/BeSweetGUI v0.6b73 if you're interested:

completely restored the old versions; worked fine
installed BeSweet v1.5b16 with BeSweetGUI v0.6b73; crashed with same error message
installed BeSweet v1.5b16 with BeSweetGUI v0.6b71 & v0.6b74; worked fine
installed BeSweet v1.5b17 with BeSweetGUI v0.6b71 & v0.6b74; worked fine

Hope that's of some value to you. You do good work, use a lot of your stuff. Thank you!
