Can anyone explain why using IFOEdit "Create new IFO files fails" unless my VTS files are VTS_01_*.vob. If I try using VTS_02_*.vob (becuase that's where teh movie was on a particular DVD) the create seems to go OK, but the resultant files don't play.

If I rename the VTS_02 files to VTS_01 files and then do the Create it works fine.

When you create new IFOs, IFOedit creates a Title Set 1 by default. It doesn't matter which Title Set VOBs you had used. Since your movie VOBs was in Title Set 2, VTS_02, you need to rename them to VTS_01 in order for your burnt DVD backup to work properly. See, it's in the DVD specs that you need to have a Title Set 1 present along with your VIDEO_TS.*. If you rename your VTS_01_0.IFO and VTs_01_0.BUP to VTS_02_0.*, it will not work.

Read here (http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/createifo.html) for post edits in Creating New IFOs. If you had subtitles in your original VOBs, you'll get fuzzy green fonts afterwards so read here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=283424#post283424) for you to correct them.
