Question about file size when authoring to dvd.

I have a avi file about 598 mg, when convert to mpeg2 its now double the size, I have tried to use Sonic MyDvD to author the avi file but after it finish tranfer it now only fit one movie file. The avi file was only 598 and I can only fit one video in my dvd-r. Very new to this.

You might try Doom9's AVI to DVD conversion guide (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/avi2dvdr.htm) as a starting point. You might try using a well understood procedure before branching out on your own.
