Hey there, I have a question concerning editing a bunch of little video clips for my First Play in my DVD. Ok ...lets say I have 1 video clips in the background, and 20 different clips that I want to "fly out and zoom in etc...." I want alot of effect for my 20 clips...So what program do i use to do all of that video effects ?? Well I am looking at Hollywood FX right now...it looks like Hollywood FX Gold have all the effect that I needed..but i don't know how to use it...but still trying to work it. So I just want to know is there any other ways to do all that stuff just like in Hollywood FX ??? Boris Red, Premiere, Shake ? ect...I have them all but don't know how to use them all..heheh:)

By The Beard of Gandalf!!! You have them all and don't know which ones to use, that must be quite a collection. :) Seriously though, I would recommend Adobe After Effects, which I am assuming you have in your 'collection'.

nFury8 : yes I have Adobe AE. I guess I'll use that. I worked with AE for a little while...I've notice that AE doesn't have a lot of effects like Hollywood FX...but AE is esier to use.. :) And YES I have a big collections of software :D Just an addicted software collector:cool:

Then use plugins bro, can I assume you have Trapcode (http://www.trapcode.com/)in your collection? And somehow just forgotten it among the pile of softwares you have accumulated? :D

nFury8: yes nFury8 I do notice that trapcode have some good plugins. But Have u look at the new Hollwood FX Pro ? man..it's reallly looks good for all the FX that they've put in. I am still trying to learn Pinnacle Studio 8 to work with Hollywood FX. But I think Studio 8 sucks.... I can't even edit more than 1 video at a time. Or maybe I missed something...I can't put 1 video as a background and then use Hollywood FX to add the FX to a bunch of little video clips that i want to fly in and out on top of the background. Hey nFury8 maybe you can help me ???

*cough* beer, beer *cough*, If I know what it is exactly you want to achieve, maybe I can help. In After Effects, you can easily achieve all sorts of flying stuff you want since it is pretty much layer-based, you can toggle each layer's 3D mode, then just apply specific keyframes to suit your flight of fancy. I dunno about Hollywood FX cause I don't have it in my 'collection', but I am intrigued about Sonic Foundry's Vegas, I like its built-in effects and transitions. I'd like to play around with it a bit more to see how far it can take me. Vegas looks very promising to be a hybrid NLE-Compositing tool.

OK, what i am trying to do is this. I want to make a Firt Play tittle for my DVD. For this i want to have a 3 min clip of the fireworks for the background. And while the firworks is playing, I have 20 little video clips, each 3 sec. I want to use all of the effects of any NLE software to do the effects. I have Vegas 4 and I think it's very good. I use it all the time. But it still doesn't have alot of effects for making video FX. But on the other hand..Hollywood FX Pro has it all...386+ FX. So I think you should look at it. And yes..I still like Vegas. So enough said, can you help me with my problem ??

If you really intend to do it in After Effects, why don't you use Boris plugin for the extra effects? I assume you have this plugin. You can import each clip as individual layers in After Effects, set keyframes for each as you assign an effect like scale, rotate, or motion to your little clips. Then just apply the Boris FX to these layers to your heart's desire. That's how I would do it anyway, or am I missing something in what it is you really want to achieve? I don't think I have the time to look into Hollywood FX either, mainly because my wallet is on a drought :) and I'm pretty much happy with After Effects and Vegas.
