I've just recently bought a brand new system and decided to start encoding the rest of my DVDs. I used smart ripper, opened the vobs in dvd2avi then vfapi. I tried to open the video file in nandub and got this error

Couldn't locate decompressor for format "vifp" (unknown)

Virtualdub requires a video for windows compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by windows media player, are not suitable.

This has me completly baffled, I've reinstalled the codecs, and even shouted at the computer. Any ideas?

It seems to be a pseudo-AVI-File, which has been made with VFAPI

please look here: http://www.fourcc.org/fcccodec.htm
