I have recently purchased the new Digital Video Teresstrial card from www.averm.co.uk Aver Media. It allows me to watch all the freeview channels through my normal TV ariel. Can i by any chance hack into some signal (On Digital ect) and pick up Pay Per View channels like sky one ect???
All comments welcome

On the other hand, per-per-view channels were gone at he same time as OnDigital. Your DVB-T card receives everything that is being transmitted terrestrially.

*cough* newsflash: ondigi/itv digi has been dead for _ages_ there are no subscriber dvb-t channels. the only channels left are freeview. and no, using a dvb-s card wont get you sky one etc, as you cant get hold of the cam to decrypt the signal.

email from simond83:
thanks for replying, you sound like you know what you are talking about. I read somewhere that i could download two programmes, softcam amd multidec, and these would solve all my problems? Am i on the right track?
retard. what part of "there are no subscriber channels" dont you understand? also what part of "and no, using a dvb-s card wont get you sky one etc" dont you understand? obviously you weren't in the gene pool when they were giving out iq points.

Hi there.
I've seen these on offer at maplin for 80 quid, and i own a hauppague nova-t dvt-t card and was thinking of 'upgrading' to the avemedia card.
The hardware is ok on the nova-t but the software is rubbish - no major updates in ages, no abillity to schedule recordings, it takes quite a time to tune in the stations initially and the time to change channels is several seconds - just not a nice experience. (i got around doing scheduled recordings using Autoit - but is is unneccessarily fiddly)
OK - can you tell me i)- can you schedule recordings ( i.e. unattended recording) ii) - how good is the extra video port (the analogue) - iii) does it tell you what is the chip responsible for the analogue capture and what format does the analogue capture to (avi or mpeg2)
Because if an onboard hardware mpeg2 chip is resonsible for the analogue capture and the software is ok this will be my next card and i'll ebay the nova - t.
Thanks in anticipation

P.S. don't worry about not knowing about OnDigital etc... it took me some time to get upto speed with this stuff - and we all make mistakes mate
