I'm getting an Avisynth open failure message in Gordian Knot .28 beta version when trying to do a compression test. The message states mpeg2dec.dll is not an Avisynth 2.5 plugin for VirtualDub, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Please look into this on and off again problem and correct it at your earliest convenience.

Hi tekman8,

youŽve got check your Gknot file directory. YouŽll need the MPEG2Dec3.dll in there for AviSynth 2.5!
Open Gknot, in the Options tab you got check "Use alernative MPEG2DEC.dll"...->(MPEG2Dec3.dll);)

Both dll versions are present in the gknot directory. The vdubmod program simply does not recognize them as valid Avisynth 2.5 files. Skiping the compression test and gknot, I tried doing a simple 2-pass test directly. Vdubmod does not recognize the avs file nor the dll's as valid when invoked. This problem did not exist with alpha14 gknot nor with current vdubmod version prior to downloading .28 beta. I suspect there really is something wrong with the avs or dll files. Until a solution is found, I urge putting alpha14 back into use.:(

Nothing was changed regarding that dll in beta (from alpha 14)
did you just replace executable with alpha 14 and it worked?

I think it's an installer problem (something got messed up during installation...)

Hi lenOx,

Apparently you were right. I removed all vestiges of gknot and down loaded the rip pack and codec pack and installed them again. I still have testing to do, but so far everything works. It was such a simple solution, I wonder why I didn't think of it.

Thanks for saving me a sleepless night.
