Digital Video Broadcast to DVD video Guide (describing the Wintv Nova product.Which records to Mpeg-2 as default.)
Guide to perfect quality
A. Requirements
1. Software:
* ds.jar v0.61
* IfoEdit v0.95
* Java (must be installed on your machine in order to get ds.jar started)
* DVB capture software
2. Hardware:
* DVB capture card (I use the WinTV Nova-ci)
3. Setting Enviroment
* A separate harddrive partition for capturing purpose (must be fragmented before you capture)
* All other Networkadapters than the WinTV Nova networkadapter must be switched off
* DMA on harddrives must be enabled
* All other applications than the DVB capture software must be closed
* End background tasks like for example antivirus, quick programlaunch items (for example Messenger, WinZip Quick Pick), and all other things you wont going to use while u capture
* Run in 16 bit color mode. If the result is ok at 16 bit try to capture at 24 bit if availabe. Dont capture with 32 bit colorsettings.
* Switch off ScreenSavers and set your Energy settings in winXP to: "always on"
* Don't make use of your computer while capturing
First Note to setting Enviroment: we are going to stress the harddrive and ask for performance. Therefore it must be like a smooth running machine which can retrieve and process data quickly and isn't (frequently) distracted by other tasks. This all with the purpose to get quality. Source: Hauppauge
Second Note to setting Enviroment: also tested with the following Environment setting:
* DMA enabled on harddrives
* All other settings ignored
Result= good Quality. Not as good as the Envirmont setting 1, but is still worth to talk about.
Action
1. Record MPEG2-file using your DVB-capture software.
2. Start ds.jar v0.61, click on the files tab, set the directory on the right screen were your source is located. Select your recorded files you want to have on your DVD.
3. Click on the main tab, make sure that you demux, so the convert option must be demux and not to VDR or MPG2.
4. Click on go
5 Wait to finish
6. Close Ds.jar and start IfoEdit v0,95
7. Click on the DVD Author menu and choose the Author new DVD option.
8. Now you will see the Author / MultiPlex interface.
9. Load the video file you created with ds.jar v.0,61 by pressing the box with ..... on it. The muxed files can be found in the directory where your movies are at.
10. Load your audiofile
11. Set your target folder
12. Wait to finish
13. Close ifoedit
Everything should be ok now.
