How to Clean the R/W Head of a CD Writer?

99% Spiritus.

if you can dismantle it,use cotton swab (it can be dry too,as sometimes that plastic lens (it seems plastic to me..heh) can be eaten by "99% spiritus"..ie. it'll produce white stains on plastic)

or not do it and use some cleaning cd (it would have some mild brush on it to clean the lens...)like just insert it in drive and let it do few revs inside.......

luckily,i never needed this,but i would resort to the methods i described....
