First off, I will admit that I only quickly scanned the forums for this problem, but if somone refers me to a thread, I will still be grateful.
I had a friend dump a lot of my VHS tapes into DivX using his TV-In and whatever software he used (supplied with his card and then re-compressed using VirtualDub). The problem is that at the beginning the audio is in sync, and at the end of most films, which are aprox 90 mins long, the audio is about 2 to 3 seconds ahead of the video.
The skewing seems to be gradual and steady. About half way through its only about 1 to 1.5 seconds out of sync. The last few seconds on each clip are completely silent (no hissing noise), so I figure the audio stream is siply being played something like 0.1% too fast.
What is the best was to correct this problem? Obviously I want to seperate the two streams and then stretch the entire audio stream by 2 to 3 seconds...
Just looking for recommendations how to best correct this problem accross about 30 DivX 5.0.2/3 files. Also, if anyone knows how to avoid this problem in the first place, I'd be doubly grateful.
